MMA Training Workouts
Welcome to MMA Training Workouts.
As you may have found for your own self, there is a lot of conflicting advice in the world of fitness. How do you train for a mixed martial arts competition? Is it better to train using your own bodyweight, or using machines and isolated exercises? Is it better to get this or that nutritional supplement, or not use any supplement at all? Is it better to workout 3 days a week, or 6-7 days? Is it better to buff up muscles that look good? Or, do not care much about the looks and only train for functional complex movements? Is it true when they say no pain no gain? Should you work out till failure every single workout? What about over training and protecting yourself from injuries? What should you do to fully recover after each workout?
And most importantly, what kind of training is the best approach for fighting in a Mixed Martial Arts match? You see, the problem with trying to be fighting fit, is you do not know what you will be facing with in any particular match. So you need to be prepared for anything and everything. You cannot have good striking power, but weak grappling power, which needs a more sustainable strength. You cannot have less flexibility or balance or range of motion than your opponent. Therefore, you need to have great overall fitness and skills to be able fight with any kind of opponent you could face.
Moreover, fighting is not just about your fitness levels or martial arts skills. There is a lot of mental, inner game aspect of fighting in a tournament. Do you lose your cool too quickly if you get at a disadvantage in the start? How quickly can you recover from a temporary failure? Can you pick yourself up and return to the ring with even more conviction and power that you’ll win? And how you can incorporate these “mental aspects” to your regular training so that, you are ready for anything and everything you can face with?
If you look at different products and books and experts, you’ll get lots of conflicting information. Some will push you to buy this nutrition or that one, as if it would turn you into an “incredible hulk” magically. Some others will try to sell you this or that equipment as if it would turn you into Chuck Norris overnight. Some others will try to sell you the idea that doing thousands of pushups or squats is the best idea for training, and incredibly, try to charge hundreds even thousands of dollars for such simple ideas.
Now, I’m not a master or expert myself, I’m just an avid student. I don’t have all the answers. I have tried to find what is the best way to train for martial arts (and any fighting situation, like you might find yourself in real life), for the last 4 years, and here, I’ll share with you some insights I’ve found along the way.
I hope find it useful. My idea is that, even if this web site helps one single person to train better, clear his confusion, save time and frustration (and maybe tons of money), and achieve more as a person and as an athlete, it is well worth the effort.
And always, I appreciate greatly, if you find something useful to you, on this web site, and you think it might also be useful for someone else, that you go ahead and share the link in social media like facebook, twitter, and vote +1 for google search. It helps a great deal to spread the good word.
